Sam Friedman Presents New Solo Exhibition at Harper’s Chelsea

“Getting Somewhere” offers a serene escape from reality.

Following the artist’s “curated by Kaws” exhibition earlier this year, Sam Friedman takes Harper’s Chelsea for his latest solo presentation, “Getting Somewhere”.

The assorted collection of 12 new works – composed of three tondos, three expansive canvases and grid cave painting – gives visitors a look into Friedman’s take on abstract landscapes through the digital lens. Taking his signature patterns and vivid tones, the artist staggers their compositions mimicking the effect of compressed found in digital images and videos.

Playing with warping shapes in layered settings has been part of Friedman’s evolving focus since the start of his career. In the contemporary artist’s new digital perspective, he adds a vibrational element to his work that brings a meditative ambience to the intimate gallery setting. From the dreamy cloud-like tondos to the fiery cave canvases, “Getting Somewhere” invites us to leave our tribulations at the door and reflect on life’s journey vicariously through the artist’s soothing fantasy landscapes.

Visit Friedman’s new solo exhibition now until November 13 at Harper’s Chelsea 534 location. Elsewhere in art news, Kenny Scharf Releases “LOOKY” Screenprint With JRP Editions.
