Paul Insect Launches Colorful Tondo Editions With Avant Arte
Two new editions and color variations of four individual prints.

Leading editions purveyor Avant Arte is teaming up with the celebrated visual artist Paul Insect for the fourth time on a new collaboration. Insect is the London-based artist best known for his mixed-media approach to developing dynamic portraiture with a collagist appearance. The artist has worked with a number of artists including Banksy. The partnership is comprised of two new editions and color variants of four individual prints: The Reflection – Red, The Reflection – Blue, and The Observer.
The Reflection – Red piece arrives in an edition of 30 and is a 16 layer screen print featuring a mixture of metallic and pearlized inks on Somerset 410gsm radiant white satin paper, finished with colored glitter and high gloss varnish. In contrast, The Reflection – Blue arrives in an edition of 100. Both works arrive framed, float-mounted inside a white, round, painted wooden frame. Lastly, The Observer is rolled out in four distinct colors: gold, silver, purple, and black. Each print arrives in an edition of 50.
“We have worked with a lot of artists, but nobody makes prints like Paul does. Normally, when an artist makes a print for us it is based on an original artwork. But with Paul, it’s different. He doesn’t replicate a pre-existing work, but instead, he creates a whole new piece with a process specifically developed through experimental printing techniques. First, he sends a sketch to the master printer, and then there is a back and forth between the printer and his sketches, almost like an ongoing collaboration with his hand and the technology he uses,” said Christian Liuten of Avant Arte.
