The next installment in the AllRightsReserved MEET PROJECT series includes Yusuke Hanai’s first-ever wooden sculpture. The “MEET Yusuke Hanai PROJECT” presents the original limited-edition wood sculpture, DOWN BUT NOT OUT, which stands 19 inches tall and comes accompanied by an 8.7-inch wooden bottle. Hanai offers a “realistic yet optimistic” outlook on life, reminding everyone that failure is inevitable but should not stop us from getting back on our feet and trying again. DOWN BUT NOT OUT will be limited to only 15 pieces, while the serial-numbered wooden bottle will be limited to 200 pieces.

New York City-based writer and curator Antwaun Sargent has edited a new book titled Young, Gifted and Black: A New Generation of Artists. The book surveys the work of a new generation of Black artists, and features the voices of collectors and curators who are doing the work to ensure Black art is made, seen and valued. Created at a moment when debates about the politics of visibility within the art world have taken on renewed urgency, the book highlights the ways in which contemporary artists of African descent are impacting the way we think about identity, politics and art history itself. Featured artists include Kerry James Marshall, Noah Davis, Deana Lawson and many others.

Kumi Contemporary is offering up a rare Yoshitomo Nara work from 2010. Measuring 59 by 69 inches, the Beach Towel is from a limited edition produced by WOW Project. The digital print on cotton beach towel features one of Nara’s iconic children with her eyes closed, evoking the sense of peace and innocence that is tied to childhood. The pale green towel can be framed and reads “WORKS ON WHATEVER ARTWORK BY YOSHITOMO NARA” on the label.

Rizzoli revealed that it will release a monograph next month paying homage to iconic skateboarder and artist Mark Gonzales. The comprehensive 208-paged tome features intimate interviews with Spike Jonze, Hiroshi Fujiwara, KAWS and more, as well as portraits by celebrated Brazilian photographer Sem Rubio. “Part skate-photography heroics and part streetwear bible, this is the first book on Mark Gonzales, one of the most recognizable names in skateboarding…” said Rizzoli in a statement. “Gonz has remained one of the most prolific innovators in skateboarding.”

New York-based photographer and filmmaker Yavez Anthonio is launching a print sale spanning the genres of conceptual photography, landscape, still life and portraiture. Forty percent of proceeds will benefit the Black Visions Collective, a nonprofit organization that focuses on advancing Black lives through healing and transformative justice, and the Okra Project, which assists marginalized communities by providing Black Trans people with meals and resources. His dreamy, soft-hued images capture sceneries and people with a sense of nostalgia, with a focus on highlighting personalities and emotions.
