Artist Christopher Martin Releases Limited Prints to Benefit Black Lives Matter Causes
Works titled ‘Don’t Cross Us’ and ‘Closed Fist.’

Oakland-based, African-American artist Christopher Martin is teaming up with Hashimoto Contemporary to release a series of limited prints to benefit Black Lives Matter organizations. Martin is known for his black-and-white illustrations and logo-like visuals across tapestry pieces that evoke his personal experiences and reflect the modern-day experience of the African diaspora.
The artist’s partnership with the international gallery features two monochromatic works titled Don’t Cross Us and Closed Fist. The first piece mentioned features a Black cherub brandishing a cross while the second work portrays a raised fist breaking a chain. Both signed and numbered works are sized 16 by 20 inches and are available for purchase for $24 USD apiece of $40 USD for both.
The prints will be available on Hashimoto Contemporary’s website starting June 5 at 10 a.m. PDT through June 7. All proceeds will go directly to BLM causes.
Since the murder of George Floyd by a Minneapolis police officer, organizations including those in the art industry have launched new initiatives in an effort to mobilize change.
