Sotheby's Hong Kong and AllRightsReserved Announce COVID-19 Charity Auction

Featuring works from Verdy, KAWS, Yu Nagaba, Joan Cornellà and many more.

After cherishing animated characters with its specialized “Manga” exhibition earlier this month, Sotheby’s Hong Kong has now teamed up with AllRightsReserved for the latest installment of its Contemporary Showcase online auction series. Tapping into the creative studio’s archive of limited-edition collectibles and unique artworks, all of the auction’s proceeds will go to Tung Wah Group of Hospitals’ Share Love & Fight the Epidemic donation campaign for COVID-19 relief. The Hong Kong-based non-profit utilizes the proceeds as a one-off short term financial aid for families affected by the ongoing pandemic.

Speaking on the auction, Creative Director of AllRightsReserved SK Lam shared that “[w]e are very excited to join Sotheby’s for the first time and present these iconic collectibles to the world… Many of these works represent a precious, shared memory for us since our start-up, and it is extra meaningful to be able to donate our proceeds from the sale for a good cause in the local community.”

Highlights of the auction include various one-off pieces, such as a sculpture of Dutch artist Florentijn Hofman’s yellow rubber duck (estimated to sell between $3,600 and $6,200 USD), as well as limited-edition collectibles and original artworks from the likes of KAWS, Verdy, Yu Nagaba, David Shrigley, Joan Cornellà and more. Notables include the AllRightsReserved x Moncler Mr. Moncler Black Vinyl Figure (~$450 USD to $700 USD), a Doraemon “STAND BY ME” 1:10 Wood Sculpture (~$390 USD to $650 USD), Verdy’s Vick “GDC” Lamp (~$2,600 USD to $3,900 USD), Yu Nagaba’s Skateboard Bench ($3,900 USD to $6,500 USD),  and a pair of coveted 2006 Nike SB Dunk Low “Dark Coffee” made in collaboration with Hong Kong artist Michael Lau.

Take a detailed look at some of the highlights in the gallery above. The auction will be open for bidding on Sotheby’s website from June 8, 10 p.m. EDT until June 15, 11 p.m. EDT.
