Avant Arte to Release Surrealist Screenprint by Simphiwe Ndzube

LA-based South African artist Simphiwe Ndzube is teaming up with Avant Arte to release a screen print edition called In the Slience of the Drum. Each 80-by-80 centimeter work portrays a surrealist landscape filled with vivid subjects clad in colorful sweatshirts and caps. The editions are screen printed in ten colors using three special effects: link on the left wakeboard, solar gold on the island and magenta metallic on the horse and the faces of the human subjects.
This psychedelic composition is typical of Ndzube’s signature style where the artist explores themes of power, exploitation and occupation across his oeuvre. “Ndzube’s practice is absurd, joyful and conceptually weighty. He works across painting and sculpture, often fusing 2D canvasses with 4D forms,” said Avant Arte in a statement.
In the Slience of the Drum will soon release in a signed and numbered edition of 55 on Avant Arte’s website. Get a closer look at the work in the slideshow above.
