Alexander McQueen Launches "Creators" Social Media Initiative for Artists

Followers are invited to submit artworks inspired by the label’s fashion collections.

Calling all artists: Alexander McQueen has launched an open-ended social media initiative inviting creators of all kinds to submit their takes on the label’s luxury fashion collections. The brand has broadened the inspiration pool for this week’s edition — which is themed around “Silhouettes” —  incorporating menswear designs into the mix for the first time in the series.

Artists will specifically pull references from McQueen’s Fall/Winter 2020 men’s and Spring/Summer 2020 womenswear collections, using virtually any object they can find to interpret the looks. Materials “from around their home” or traditional supplies like paint, charcoal, and more are encouraged to create the artworks.

To kick this week’s challenge off, McQueen has partnered with noted artist and Central Saint Martins professor Howard Tangye for a live drawing of one of the men’s FW20 looks. Watch the artist in the video below or for users looking to join in on the action now, submit designs to @AlexanderMcQueen on Instagram by tagging #McQueenCreators.

Elsewhere for the brand, several rare Alexander McQueen pieces have recently gone up for auction.
