JR Completes Massive 'The Chronicles of New York' Mural in NYC's Domino Park

Photos of 1,000 New York residents featured on the side of stacked shipping containers.

To further commemorate his monumental “Chronicles” exhibition at the Brooklyn Museum, renowned French artist JR has completed a massive new mural on a triangle stack of shipping containers in New York City’s Domino Park. For the mural, the artist photographed over 1,000 New York residents and reproduced them in a large scale. All of these individuals that are featured in the mural come from all five boroughs of the Big Apple. The artist worked with architectural firm LOT-EK to realize the mural installation.

With this latest project, JR continues to give visibility to minority communities and individuals across the globe. He is widely recognized for his use of plastering giant monochrome photographs of faces in cities while touching upon timely issues on a global scale including gun control, women’s rights, and immigration.

Get a closer look at the mural above and check it out for yourself by visiting Domino Park.
