Lucien Smith Unveils New 'Beast of Burden' Paintings

Abstract pieces featuring twisted and twining branches.

Lucien Smith recently launched an online exhibition of paintings under the series titled Beast of Burden. A total of 12 pieces are included in the body of work with each one portraying an abstract composition in black and red tones. The figurations in each piece seemingly depict branches twisting and twining together.

What’s more interesting is Smith’s titling of each work that evokes a personal experience or intimate reflection such as The fact there’s a highway to Hell and only a stairway to Heaven says a lot about anticipated traffic numbers or Tweet others as you want to be tweeted.

Coinciding with the Beast of Burden paintings is a special edition T-shirt featuring a graphic of one of the paintings printed by LQQK Studio in extra small, small, medium, large and extra-large sizes. All proceeds from the sale of the paintings and tee will go directly to support Lucien Smith’s non-profit organization, Serving the People, which launches various initiatives to support struggling and emerging artists worldwide.

Check out the Beast of Burden paintings and t-shirt in the slideshow above and head to Serving the People’s website to purchase all pieces.
