Japanese artist Hajime Kuwazono will be presenting his first solo exhibition under his new moniker “Soh Souen.” Those who aren’t familiar with this name might at least recognize his artwork, featured on the cover of Hiroshi Fujiwara’s most recent LP Slumbers 2.

Presented at the exhibition will be a collection of prints called tie, showcasing various mosaic-like portraits formed with tiny squares that resemble pixels. According to a press release, Souen has been working on the series since 2019, and there may be a chance that Hiroshi’s portrait will be displayed. The exhibition will also be debuting etude and caress and hug — abstract works that are mostly pastel-colored. Finally, the exhibition will feature a three-dimensional installation titled my body, your smell, and ours, made from 25 kinds of herbs and fragrant trees to project a sense of healing and purification.

Soh Souen’s solo exhibition, “A Modest Scream,” will be on from November 21 through December 27 at The Mass in Tokyo.

For other exhibitions, Jason Freeny’s art toys will be coming to Hong Kong’s K11 Mall.
