NADA Miami 2020 Diversifies Its Virtual Fair With Over 90 International Galleries

Including physical previews and programming.

The New Art Dealers Alliance will transform its centralized format into a digital platform and satellite hub network as part of its annual flagship fair, NADA Miami, set to take place through December 1-5, 2020. The 18th edition will feature a series of international presentations helmed by a diverse selection of 46 NADA-affiliated art spaces and 27 first-time exhibitors, totaling 96 galleries from 55 cities. Participating galleries include 4649, imlabor, Kayokoyuki, Misako & Rosen, Satoko Oe Contemporary, and XYZ Collective in Tokyo; LETO, Polana Institute, and Raster in Warsaw; and 427, Kim?, and Low in Riga.

Highlights include Fierman’s presentation of new works on paper by celebrated performance artist Karen Finley on view in New York City. Since Trump’s inauguration back in 2016, Finley has created text drawings that extrapolate “sexually and politically charged words often from quotes or the news” in her washy and inky cursive aesthetic. Moreover, Anonymous Gallery will host an exhibition of set design puppets and related artworks by Wendy Cabrera Rubio at the gallery’s new space on Baxter Street in New York City. Rubio’s presentation sheds light on the historical connections between the Americas as she navigates rhetoric and terminology across notions of race, ethnicity and nationality in contemporary culture.

“NADA Miami remains dedicated to celebrating rising talents from around the globe. Visitors of the 2020 fair will be invited to experience gallery presentations in person in their local city, and discover the best of contemporary art online through a newly-designed digital platform,” said NADA in a statement. “Accompanying the fair, the virtual programming series will continue to showcase conversations and performances from the defining voices of contemporary art and culture.”

Visit NADA’s website for more information on the 18th edition. Elsewhere in art, PRIZM art fair continues to champion artists of color in its forthcoming virtual showcase.
