Felipe Pantone to Release Modular 'OPD3S' Sculpture Edition
Inspired by an airplane vertical fin.

After designing a one-off INTR3PID Carbon Cub airplane, Felipe Pantone returns with a new limited edition sculpture under his signature Optichromie series of modular artworks. Titled OP3DS, the colorful piece was inspired by an airplane vertical fin — an aerodynamic shape the offers directional stability and “evokes speed, contemporaneity, and technological advancement,” as per a press statement.
Each OP3DS sculpture edition measures 40 by 25 centimeters that were made using UV paint, aluminum, and PMMA. All pieces arrive signed and numbered by Pantone. Limited to 50 pieces and five artist proofs, the work will be sold soon on the artist’s Configurable Art website this November 13.
Pantone is known for his interdisciplinary practice that encompasses painting, installation, sculpture, and new media. The latest sculpture edition expands upon the artist’s practice of developing new configurable pieces alongside computer-assisted works that challenge the perceptions of viewers while raising questions on mankind’s dependency on technology and vice versa.
