Janette Beckman Chronicles Birth of Punk Rock in 'Mash Up 2' Print Series

Archival photos remixed by iconic artists including Shepard Fairey, Cey Adams and more.

British photographer Janette Beckman is a mainstay in the worlds of music and documentary photography. Beckman started her career at the emergence of punk rock working for publications such as The Face and Melody Maker. She has captured images of renowned bands such as The Clash and Boy George while also being responsible for three Police album covers. When she moved to New York City in 1983, the photographer immersed herself into the underground hip-hop scene where she captured portraits of RUN DMC, Slick Rick, Salt-N-Pepa, Grandmaster Flash, LL Cool J, and Big Daddy Kane.

Beckman recently launched a series of limited edition prints that chronicle the birth of punk rock. She teamed up with a slew of leading artists such as Mike Giant, Shepard Fairey, Bryan Turcotte, Cey Adams, Morning Breath, among others to employ their signature creations across her iconic images of musicians. Portraits featured in the project include spotlights of Billy Idol, Joe Strummer, Debbie, Harry, Boy George, Dee Dee Ramone and more.

All prints are sized at 18 by 24 inches and arrive in a hand-numbered edition of 50 per variant with a certificate of authenticity. Purchase a print on Industry Print Shop’s website for $100 USD.
