Free Takashi Murakami Artwork Up for Grabs in Paris Art Treasure Hunt
Hosted by the Grand Palais and Perrotin Gallery.
An artwork by Takashi Murakami will be free and up for grabs to anyone that’s able to find it, alongside 19 other pieces by different artists, in a Parisian art treasure hunt. Dubbed “Wanted!,” the project is being hosted by Paris’ iconic Grand Palais and Perrotin Gallery.
Besides Murakami’s piece, the works of other artists like Daniel Arsham, Emily Mae Smith, and JR will be included in the hunt. Taking to Instagram, the gallery explained the project’s “simple” rules: “20 artworks by Perrotin artists will be concealed in the empty nave of the Grand Palais. If you find one, you leave with it.” Emmanuel Perrotin commented, “I am hugely grateful to my artists for their commitment and belief in this wild project. This is a rare moment. I love the idea of doing this as a gift to the city of Paris, as a moment of solidarity and joy.” Amid COVID-19 restrictions, the treasure hunt has been sectioned by time slots of 50-minute sessions, with a 500-person maximum capacity per slot.
Grand Palais and Perrotin Gallery’s scavenger hunt will run for 48 hours from October 24 – 25.
