A Close Look at Virgil Abloh's "Efflorescence" Exhibition at Galerie kreo
Accentuating brutalist furniture with hand-painted graffiti burners.
Virgil Abloh just presented Off-White™’s Fall/Winter 2020 Menswear collection at Paris Fashion Week and is now gearing up to debut Louis Vuitton’s show for the season. Art directing for both labels clearly isn’t enough for the multifaceted designer who also launched his 20-piece furniture collection at Galerie kreo in Paris.
Entitled “Efflorescence,” the exhibition features Abloh’s new brutalist designs for coffee tables, consoles, floor mirrors, ceramics, and chairs entirely crafted using durable building materials. Accentuating these pieces are meticulously-placed perforations and sprawling, hand-painted burners from Abloh in neon-colored tones to give their stark exteriors some needed graffiti glow.
“To me, design always has the inherent idea of being a bridge from the past, with an eye towards the future,’ Abloh said of the collection’s aesthetic in a statement to The Spaces.
“Efflorescence” is currently on view until April 10 at Galerie kreo. Find the address below.
