Daniel Arsham is adding to his expansive portfolio of deconstructed sculptural collectibles, as he prepares to launch the follow-up to CRYSTAL RELIC 001. CRYSTAL RELIC 002, like the first in the series, is a cast-resin remake of a familiar silhouette: the original Nintendo Game Boy.
CRYSTAL RELIC 002 is a strikingly realistic remake of Nintendo‘s first handheld console, down to the D-pad, power button, “GAME BOY” branding below the screen and legal jargon on the rear. The translucent item even comes with a matching Super Mario Land cartridge, boasting artwork that neatly mirrors the cover of Mario’s first portable console outing. Further distinguishing CRYSTAL RELIC 002 from its predecessor, the removable cartridge is the first item in the series to boast two interlocking parts.
Available in an exclusive edition of 500 pieces, CRYSTAL RELIC 002 will release on Daniel Arsham’s website January 17.
On January 11, Galerie Perrotin launched its latest Arsham exhibition, dubbed “Paris 3020.”
