London’s Royal Academy of Arts recently announced its 2020 exhibitions and one of the installments is a major retrospective on seminal artist, Marina Abramović. The upcoming presentation will mark Abramović’s first-ever show in the United Kingdom with the artist set to recreate some of her most iconic performances.

A relentless creator of reactionary art, Abramovic will once again launch her ‘Imponderabilia’ performance (NSFW video below) that will see visitors passing between a pair of naked performers. The work was originally executed by Abramović and her longtime partner Ulay back in 1977 at Sean Kelly Galery in New York. In regards to the concept behind work, the artist expressed to the Financial Times: “if there were no artists, there would be no museums. So we are living doors.”

The retrospective will run through September 26-December 8, 2020, offering museumgoers to examine five decades of work by on the world’s most pivotal performance artists. Visit the Royal Academy of Arts’ website to learn more.

In other London shows, Gagosian will spotlight hand-painted sculptures by Cy Twombly at an upcoming exhibition.
