The Traveling "AKIRA ART WALL PROJECT" Makes a Stop in Milan

A joint installment between iconic Japanese illustrator Katsuhiro Otomo and Kosuke Kawamura.

Following the installment in Los Angeles this past July, the “AKIRA ART WALL PROJECT” now makes its way to Milan, Italy. The joint showcase organized by legendary Japanese illustrator Katsuhiro Otomo and fellow artist Kosuke Kawamura is currently running until the end of September.

Across the venue are blown-up visuals of Otomo’s ubiquitous visuals from the cult manga series. Accompanying the black-and-white anime illustrations are digital and collage works made using shredded pieces of paper by Kawamura. Rounding out the pop-up event is the collaborative merchandise between the Japanese artists and accessories purveyor nana-nana. All items are available exclusively for purchase at the exhibition.

Tour the Milan installment for the “AKIRA ART WALL PROJECT” in the slideshow above. Elsewhere in art, take a look at Tim Bengal’s large-scale ‘Flower Skull Cemetery’ installation in Berlin.
