Amir H. Fallah's "Worlds Apart" Explores Political Climate & Immigrant Communities

A two-week solo exhibition at Mykonos’ Dio Haria gallery.

Iranian-American multidisciplinary artist Amir H. Fallah will be holding a collection of works in the exhibition “Worlds Apart” at Dio Horia in Mykonos later this month.

“Worlds Apart” includes paintings and works on paper that come together as a series which understands the diverse range of immigrant communities living in America. His work is a reaction to the current political climate rather than be a directly political itself, as the pieces examine what it means to be American today in a world run under Donald Trump administration.

All his works begin by visiting his subjects in real life, learning their stories and surroundings to help create a more genuine piece of art. Once he’s gotten to know his subject, the artworks are developed and are finished with veiled faces to further comment on the generational experiences of movement, trauma, hope and celebration, all the while describing their identities.

Decorative borders, bold colors and Fallah’s use of depth in his work are all traditional Iranian methods that are then combined with American influences such as westernized graffiti. Take a look at some of the works from “Worlds Apart” in the gallery above, and experience them for yourself at Dio Horia in Mykonos, Greece from August 23. Fallah will be personally opening the exhibition at 8 PM on the 23rd, too.

In other news, KAWS’ Beautiful Losers print from 2004 is getting an online release.
