Sam Friedman's "Days of Kindness" Exhibit Will See Abstract & Natural Forms Collide

Set to take place at Dio Horia Gallery in Mykonos, Greece.

New York-based artist Sam Friedman will launch his first-ever solo exhibition in Greece. Set to take place at Mykonos’ Dio Horia Gallery, the presentation entitled “Days of Kindness” will display new landscape paintings by Friedman. The artist’s signature abstractions will be observed across the freshly-made compositions portraying fluid lines, vivid colors, and delicate forms evoking therapeutic scenes of nature’s beauty. Altogether, the new body of work sees the artist elevating the aforesaid elements in his practice while expanding his creativity in naturalistic references.

As for the exhibition title, it references Leonard Cohen’s 1985 poem of the same name. Cohen’s prose reflects on personal experiences had while on the Greek island of Hydra in the 1960s and the poet’s affair with Marianne Ihlen at the time. “It is a poem full of the warmth of a summer evening illuminated by the moon, candles, and oil lamps echoing the tender feelings of a relationship that in the meantime has come to an end,” described the gallery.

“Days of Kindness” will be on view from July 25 until August 23. View select paintings above and then visit Dio Horia’s website for more details.
