Crystal Wagner’s Colorful 'Ignis Fatuus' Installation Wraps Around Medieval Castle in France

One of her largest sculptural works to date.

American artist Crystal Wagner is known for her sprawling sculptural installations made using woven fabric and wire. Wagner and a team of assistants recently unveiled a new public artwork entitled ‘Inis Fatuus’ that coils around the stone walls of the Château de Belcastel in France. The artwork, considered to be one of her largest installations to date, took one month to create. It will be on display for six months.

Accompanying the outdoor installation is an exhibition taking place inside the castle entitled “Hemisphere.” Made in collaboration with AFA Gallery, the presentation features artworks and limited edition prints depicting Wagner’s abstract, alien-like forms.
