Heritage Auctions Launches Rare Artworks in New Urban Art Sale

Heritage Auctions will once again helm a monumental sale of coveted artworks by KAWS, Banksy, Matt Gondek, Yoshitomo Nara, and more leading contemporary artists. Highlights of the sale include a hand-signed bus stop painting by KAWS made in 2001, Banksy’s ‘Rude Copper’ print from 2002, Gondek’s four-foot statue entitled ‘Simpsons Nuclear Family’ created in 2018, among many others. The Urban Art sale will see live floor bidding at its Chicago outpost and online at HA.com starting July 22.

Trevor Andrew x Print Them All ‘Original Gucci Ghost’ Lithographs

Canadian artist Trevor Andrew, famously known by his alias GucciGhost, recently teamed up with Paris-based Print Them All on new lithograph editions featuring the artist’s signature ghost character. Sized at roughly 30 x 30 inches, the edition limited to 25 per iteration will arrive in various colors: pink, blue, red, and yellow. Each lithograph is hand-signed and numbered by the artist with official stamping by the publishing house. The ‘Original Gucci Ghost’ lithographs will officially launch this July 18.
Shoetree Displays New Sneaker Planters at Ciaopanic Pop-Up in Japan

Japanese artist Kosuke Sugimoto, known by his moniker Shoetree, specializes in crafting sculptural sneaker planters. Utilizing throwback Nikes and Jordans as canvases, every vintage silhouette is covered with moss and vines that undergo a three-year “deterioration” process called Hydrolysis. Shoetree recently launched a pop-up exhibition at CIAOPANIC in Tokyo’s Harajuku district. Entitled “Justification of Deterioration,” the planters on display feature a wide-range of beloved sneakers including the Air More Uptempos.

Medicom Toy once again teamed up with the Basquiat Estate to release new limited edition BE@BRICK figures embellished with original artwork made by the legendary artist. The collectible figures arrive in 100%, 400%, and 1000% sizes. Each black-and-white variant features a matte finish exterior with the varying motifs showcasing Basquiat’s signature scrawlings, letterforms, and figurations.
The figurines are available for purchase via the toy brand’s CJ Mart web store for ¥10,800 JPY and ¥48,000 JPY (approximately $110 USD and $445 USD).
Dime Drops Puzzle Set Inspired by Iconic ‘Ecce Homo’ Painting

Montreal-based skate label Dime recently released a special puzzle set that features the iconic painting ‘Ecco Homo’ by Cecelia Giménez. The artwork is a century-old fresco of Jesus and was displayed at the artist’s local church in Borja, Spain. Although the town allegedly hated the painting, the piece attracts thousands of tourists each year with 150,000 people visiting the small town two years after it was restored. The kit comes complete with 1,000 pieces.
