A Look Inside Jun Cha's "RONIN" Solo Exhibition In Tokyo

At Takashi Murakami’s Hidaro Zingaro Gallery.

Acclaimed tattoo artist Jun Cha forays into the world of fine contemporary art with his first solo exhibition in Japan taking place at Takashi Murakami’s Hidari Zingaro Gallery in Tokyo. Entitled “RONIN,” the LA-based creative presents a diverse selection of original artworks spanning drawings, paintings, sculptures, and wall murals.

Across the compositions, the artist’s signature black-and-white aesthetic is prevalent with subjects inspired by Renaissance greats such as Leonardo da Vinci and Michelangelo. A nod to the wandering samurai of feudal Japan is observed in a sprawling wall mural. Other highlights include marble skull sculptures made by Jun Cha under the tutelage of local masters in the Apuan Alps.

“Cha’s artistic practice pays homage to the warrior’s path; one of adversity and solitude. Master of his craft, yet also a servant, Jun Cha continues to fulfill his calling to create through his constant learning and unlearning,” said the gallery in a statement.

Tour Jun Cha’s “RONIN” exhibition above and then visit Hidari Zingaro’s website for further details. The show in on view until July 6.

In other standout presentations, Gorillas co-creator Jamie Hewlett will present new original artworks at Lazinc London.
