Harland Miller Creates Giant Paintings Inspired by '60s & '70s Design

As part of an ongoing exhibition at White Cube Hong Kong.

Yorkshire-born artist Harland Miller is widely recognized for his paintings that evoke the vivid compositions found across ’60s-’70s magazine covers, post-war psychology books, and more. Miller has brought a fresh selection of these pieces to White Cube Hong Kong as part of a new exhibition.

Highlights include large-scale paintings with bold letterforms set against multi-toned backdrops. Across these works are neutral-toned sections that display a fictitious title alongside Miller’s own name as the author. “By using his own name as an author within the image, Miller opens up a third space where the artist becomes his own alter-ego,” said the White Cube in a press statement.

Additionally, the artist displays a series of smaller-scale pieces that are covered in paint drips at the gallery. View select works above and then visit White Cube’s official website to learn more.

In other international shows, MADASKI will soon present a solo exhibition at Perrotin Hong Kong that pays homage to iconic Chinese films.
