Takashi Murakami, Sterling Ruby & More Major Artists Donate Works for Notre Dame Restoration

As part of a charity exhibition taking place at Gagosian Paris.

On April 15, the historic Notre-Dame in Paris went up in flames as it was undergoing renovations. Since the incident, international leaders from multiple organizations including Apple CEO Tim Cook and LVMH’s Bernard Arnault made large donations to help with reconstruction efforts for the 850-year-old cathedral.

This time around, Gagosian Paris is organizing a massive exhibition that will include donations by art world elites to support the landmark’s ongoing renovation. Participating artists in the presentation include Takashi Murakami, Sterling Ruby, Jenny Saville, Frank Gehry, Marc Newson, Richard Serra, Cindy Sherman, among others who have made special artworks for the forthcoming installment.

“All proceeds from this exhibition will be donated via the Friends of Notre-Dame de Paris and its affiliated French entity La Fondation Notre Dame,” said the gallery in a statement. The show will run through June 11 until July 27.

Stay tuned for further details and visit Gagosian’s website to view the full list of artists included in the show.

In other art events, REVOK recently presented a time-based projection that coincided with a musical performance at the Detroit Institute of Arts.
