An Exclusive Look Inside KAWS' "ALONE AGAIN" Exhibition at MOCAD
Life-sized sculptures and vivid paintings set against a sprawling wall mural.

This past weekend, the Museum of Contemporary Art Detroit (MOCAD) launched its solo exhibition of original artworks by KAWS entitled “ALONE AGAIN.” Made in collaboration with the Library Street Collective, the momentous presentation is comprised of three large-scale paintings, five sculptures, and a sprawling wall mural. Highlights include the Brooklyn artist’s FINAL DAYS wooden sculpture in black standing nearly 20 feet tall and the 72-by-120-inch painting entitled FAR FAR DOWN that features an intricate abstract composition made using acrylic paints.
“Riffing on specific genres of pop art, figuration, deconstruction, collage, and fashion, the exhibition represents an underlying irreverence and affection for our turbulent times, as well as KAWS’ agility as an artist to appropriate and transform,” said the museum in a statement.
“KAWS: ALONE AGAIN” is on view until August 4, head over to MOCAD’s website to learn more.
