James Jean Unveils Stained Glass Works for Upcoming "Eternal Journey" Exhibition

Taking place at Seoul’s LOTTE Museum.

James Jean will soon launch a major presentation at the LOTTE Museum in Seoul, South Korea. Titled “Eternal Journey,” the prolific artist will showcase a collection of over 500 of his works spanning large-scale paintings, sculptures, video art, and installations.

Ahead of the show’s April opening, Jean recently took to Instagram to unveil a new series of light sculptures made using stained glass materials. His signature, mythical subjects are embellished on several panels of the life-sized works. When a light source placed inside the structure is turned on, the ethereal visuals on the exterior become illuminated — creating a unique viewing experience.

“As an Asian-American, Jean has consistently explored the dual nature of his identity through his works, a quest consummated in the visual narrative of the eternal wanderer fluctuating between the agony and ecstasy of flirting with, yet never fully belonging to, his past or his present as experienced through the lens of Eastern and Western culture,” said the LOTTE Museum in a statement.

“Eternal Journey” will be open to the public from April 4 until September 1. Get a closer look at the stained glass works below and stay tuned for more details.
