Mike Lee & Case Studyo Unveil Limited 'Bump & Grind' Sculpture

The title of the piece is not a reference to R. Kelly’s song, the artist claims.

Mike Lee is the latest artist to collaborate with Case Studyo. The South Korean creative is internationally-known for his oil paintings done up in a smoothly-textured monochromatic aesthetic. His subjects draw inspiration from everyday life and socio-political issues.

The Case Studyo collaboration is a pair of white porcelain sculptures entitled Bump & Grind. It’s a “playful representation of two carefree figures having a night on the town,” said the online art platform on Instagram. “While the figures are distilled down to rudimentary shapes and ridden of recognizable features, the artist manages to convey two strong characters each with their own specific personality.”

HYPEBEAST recently reached out to the artist to clarify whether or not the title of piece references the song of the same name by the widely-controversial R&B singer, R. Kelly. Lee expressed: “The title was set early last year and it’s just coincidence. I was a fan of his music, but no I wasn’t thinking of him. It was more in reference to my love for rap and hip hop.”

Nevertheless, the piece which arrives as an edition of 25 is available for inquiries at contact@casestudyo.com. Pricing details have not been announced. For other artist releases, take a look at this week’s best art drops.
