KATSU & A.D.E.D. Take over Moscow Subway Station with Graffiti-Based Video Installation

Including a capsule of hand-painted balaclavas, hoodies and more.

Following the launch of his painting drone, renowned NYC graffiti artist KATSU returns with a collaborative installation with art collective A.D.E.D. in Moscow. Taking place inside the underground Mayakovskaya subway station, the partnered piece is a video work entitled Transition that is comprised of six vintage television sets with the screens displaying the group’s unique hand tags: SPACER, NAMER, JUICE, COZEK, and CAPTEK.

“The venue was chosen for a reason as the collective is reflecting on the functionality of space and our perception of it, by changing commercial space into exhibition ones they hope to affect passers’ by mentality from consumer to viewing and appreciating,” as per a statement.

Accompanying the install is a collaborative collection encompassing 150 hand-painted balaclavas portraying KATSU’s signature one-line skull character alongside hoodies embellished with holiday prints in red and green tones. Transition is on view at the address below until December 27. The capsule will launch on A.D.E.D. Moscow’s website starting December 20. Prices range from $35 USD to $127 USD.
