Phillips to Offer Works by Futura, Felipe Pantone & More at Hong Kong Auction

Showcasing works by both acclaimed and emerging artists.

Phillips’ 20th Century & Contemporary Art and Design Auction is set to take place in Hong Kong this weekend. For this season’s auction, Phillips is featuring a charity component to the sale in partnership with the Hong Kong Contemporary Art Foundation. The benefit auction will showcase 10 works donated by some of the most important names in street and graffiti art today, including Futura, Felipe Pantone, Cleon Peterson and José Parlá. Proceeds will go towards helping the foundation democratize art and enrich the cultural life of Hong Kong.

Aside from the charity section, Phillips will offer works from a number of different artists, as well as Phillips timepieces and jewels. Works from seminal artists Jean-Michel Basquiat, Yayoi Kusama and Gerhard Richter will be go up for sale alongside the works of various emerging artists, like Eddie Martinez, Genieve Figgis and Nicolas Party. For the first time ever, American visual artist Jonathan Lyndon Chase’s work will appear at auction in Asia. Highlights of the 20th Century & Contemporary Art and Design Sale includes Basquiat’s 1985 ‘Thermopolae’ and Keith Haring’s 1989 ‘Pop Shop III: D (Scissors)’ and ‘Pop Shop III: D (Figures).’
