Felipe Pantone & Configurable Art Release Second Customizable Side Table

Kaleidoscopes and gradients.

Felipe Pantone is set to release a second version of his ‘Subtractive Variability Circular’ side table, which he designed through his Configurable Art platform. The latest edition of the table will remain customizable but will feature a slightly different kinetic pattern variation. Instead of a sun dial-esque point in the center like its predecessor, this update appears to offer either a gridded kaleidoscope effect or a subtle gradient effect depending on the top layer’s positioning.

The layered tabletop’s varying gradations are crafted using UV paint on acrylic. Each circular layer is spaced out using metal ball bearings, allowing light to more effectively pass through the structure and create a colorful, dynamic visual illusion. Transparent acrylic x-shaped legs with dramatic half-moon cutouts complete each handmade table, acting as a stable base for the detailed tabletop design. When the table’s top layer rotates, the table’s colors and pattern change. Each piece arrives in a custom wood box, signed and numbered by Felipe Pantone himself.

Subtractive Variability Circular Side Table 2 will be available beginning November 22 at 10 am EST over on Configurable Art’s website. Each piece will retail for €2,500.00 EUR (approximately $2,766 USD) plus shipping, and only 30 units will be available for purchase. Take a look at how the table works in the below Instagram video.

Elsewhere in design, Christie’s will be auctioning a lineup of coveted Supreme items.
