LACMA Now Acquires Do Ho Suh's Iconic Transparent Home Installation

A full-scale replica of the artist’s former NYC apartment.

Seminal South Korean artist Do Ho Suh is widely-known for his full-scale replicas of homes entirely crafted with polyester fabric and stainless steel tubes. The Los Angeles County Museum of Art was recently gifted one of his iconic architectural works. Titled 348 West 22nd Street  (2011–15), the nearly-transparent installation is a life-sized model of his former ground-floor residence in New York City. The immersive piece features a passageway of conjoined rooms. The artist utilized traditional Korean sewing techniques with digital modeling tools to bring the installation to life.

The installation will be on view at the museum’s Resnick Pavilion starting November 10. Visit LACMA’s official website for further details.
