Craig Green Taps Artist Saelia Aparicio for Conceptual Wall Hangings

Hand-stitched embroidery.

Menswear Designer of the Year Craig Green‘s namesake label continues to craft delicately embroidered pieces, following up its masterful Fall/Winter 2019 garments with conceptual wall hangings. This time around, the label has tapped London-based artist Saelia Aparicio on a series of folk-inspired portraits that deliver an expressive take on the human form.

From conceptual nature-inspired motifs like parts of walnut trees and poison ivy, the hand-stitched artworks showcase an imaginative mashup of ancient anatomical diagrams and contemporary art. Each piece features thin ink lines from Aparicio’s drawings over vibrant cotton-based fabrics. Silk-satin appliqués have been layered over the sketches with accenting colors in the shape of blocks. All of the needlework was done in Craig Green’s studio, a recurring technique that was also seen in Green’s Spring/Summer 2020 collection. As a finishing touch, each piece is supported by two silver-tone metal rods, making it easy to be hung on walls.

The Craig Green x Saelia Aparicio Wall Hangings are currently available at MATCHESFASHION.COM, ranging between $4,575 USD – $5,590 USD.

Elsewhere, Virgil Abloh & IKEA have announced the “MARKERAD” Collection with official release dates.
