Antony Gormley’s Large-Scale Sculptures Invade London’s Royal Academy of Arts

Mind-bending works mounted on the floor, ceiling, and walls.

Acclaimed British sculptor, Sir Antony Mark David Gormley OBE, is the focus of a landmark exhibition at London’s Royal Academy of Arts. The sprawling presentation chronicles Gormley’s prolific career, displaying the artist’s experiential installations and large-scale sculptures. One of the highlights is an entire room filled with cast-iron figures mounted on the walls, ceiling, and floor of the institute. Another key work is Gormley’s ‘Clearing VII’ immersive installation comprised of coiled, flexible metal which visitors have to find their own path through.

“Throughout a series of experiential installations, some brand-new, some remade for the RA’s galleries, we will invite visitors to slow down and become aware of their own bodies,” said the museum in a statement.

The exhibition is currently on view until December 3, 2019. Visit the Royal Academy of Arts’ website for further details.
