Tom Sachs Will Bring His "Tea Ceremony" Exhibition to Tokyo
Taking place at the Tokyo Opera City Art Gallery.
Tom Sachs is gearing up to launch his new “Tea Ceremony” exhibition at the Tokyo Opera City Art Gallery in Japan. Although official details of the show are pending, the presentation will potentially reference the NYC-based artist’s previous installments of the same name. Mixed-media artworks that draw inspiration from the traditional Japanese tea ceremony formally called Chanoyu will ostensibly go on display at the upcoming show. Highlights from past exhibits include the artist’s Tea tools such as bowls and ladles, a bronze bonsai made of over 3,600 welded parts, and public demonstrations in which Sachs or a college perform tea ceremonies for select guests.
Stay tuned for more details on the upcoming show. “Tea Ceremony” is slated to open on April 20 at the Tokyo Opera City Art Gallery. Elsewhere in art, Paris’ historic Musée du Louvre recently announced that Beyoncé and JAY-Z helped it set a new visitor record.
