Multi-faceted artist Tom Sachs will install a Swiss Passport Office during Frieze week in London this year. Located at Galerie Thaddaeus Ropac, the project aims to “break down the borders and eliminate the concept of nationality,” said the artist. Having added that “this comes at a time where our liberal democracies are being threatened, and oppressed people all over the world live in danger and without refuge.”

The functional installation will allow gallerygoers the opportunity to purchase their very own, hand-typed and serial-numbered Tom Sachs Studio passport. Galerie Thaddaeus Ropac will have the piece on display starting October 5. “Swiss passports will be issued live for 24 hours from 6 p.m. GMT+1 October 5th til 6 p.m. GMT+1 October 6th,” said Sachs.
