CIFF's "ENLIGHTENMENT" Exhibition Taps Virgil Abloh, Naomi Campbell, Peter Saville & Nick Knight

Inspired by the power, influence and beauty of light.

To celebrate the Spring/Summer 2019 iteration of Copenhagen’s annual International Fashion Fair, creative directors Kristian W. Andersen and Stavros Karelis invited Sami Janjer, Virgil Abloh, Naomi Campbell, Peter Saville and Nick Knight to co-curate a special exhibition titled, “ENLIGHTENMENT.”

Unveiled to help off kick off CIFF, the special installations on display were all created to raise awareness of the global Little Sun Project and its mission to bring energy to the 1.1 billion currently living without access to electricity. Inspired by the power, influence and beauty of light, each of the collaborator’s work for ENLIGHTENMENT is underpinned by a need to express and empower the importance of benevolence, generosity and humanitarianism to the new generation.

Virgil Abloh of Off-White™ put together an immersive display of Little Sun Project’s Original Lamp to bring awareness to how the product brings solar energy to communities in Sub-Saharan Africa. Legendary model Naomi Campbell teamed up with lauded graphic designer Peter Saville on a set of ten original artworks in collaboration with Woolrich, emblazoned with inspirational quotes from Campbell. Rounding up the exhibition, image maker Nick Knight put together a new short film focused on light. Titled “The sound of lights own destruction / 2,” the visual is informed by his relation to light and its invaluable relation to the world.

Check out Virgil Abloh, Naomi Campbell, Peter Saville and Nick Knight’s works for the “ENLIGHTENMENT” exhibition on display at CIFF SS19 above and make sure to check out our coverage of Copenhagen Fashion Week SS19.
