Banksy Denies Any Involvement in Major Moscow Exhibition
“I don’t charge people to see my art unless there’s a fairground wheel,” said the artist.

This past June, a major retrospective on Banksy opened in Moscow for the first time. Organized by IQ Art Management, the solo presentation currently taking place at the Central House of Artists sees a large collection of pieces presumably made by the elusive artist. Several of the works include sketches, prints, and sculptures totaling nearly 100 pieces. Accompanying these works are blown-up photos of Banksy’s original pieces that covered buildings in England, United States, and in Palestine with accompanying descriptions.
Banksy recently took to Instagram to deny any involvement in the Moscow exhibition. The artist posted a screenshot of a mobile conversation with an anonymous individual. “You know its got nothing to do with me right? I don’t charge people to see my art unless there’s a fairground wheel,” said Banksy. The discussion then moves on to whether or not the artist should publicly announce the noninvolvement. The duo quip about posting a screen grab of the conversation to which the artist then sneeringly shared its entirety on Instagram.
