United Visual Artists' 'Spirit of the City' Installation Features Rotating Mirrored Columns
Inspired by the “dynamic activity of New York City.”
London-based United Visual Artists will soon launch an immersive installation at MINI’s A/D/O creative space in New York City. The artwork entitled Spirit of the City is comprised of rotating mirrored columns that are 9-feet-tall. UVA’s goal for the piece is to ”challenge personal perception while eliciting a visceral and electrifying reaction similar to the thrill one might experience when exploring a new city,” according to a statement. What’s more, the columns are illuminated with sodium vapor lamps during nighttime for a unique, transformative experience.
The installation marks the first momentous showcase at the Greenpoint, Brooklyn space throughout the annual NYCxDESIGN event. It will be open to public viewing from May 18 until September 2. Get a closer look above and head over to A/D/O’s official website to learn more.
