An Exclusive Look Inside the SHOP Taka Ishii Gallery in Hong Kong

Featuring new works by influential Japanese artist, Tomoo Gokita.

Features

SHOP Taka Ishii Gallery recently opened the doors in Hong Kong. The five-month-long concept shop will rotate dynamic artworks, apparel, and other merchandise made by leading international artists. Spearheading the inaugural installment is prolific Japanese artist, Tomoo Gokita.

Gokita is long-lauded for his grey-scale paintings of pop culture subjects with a Neo-Expressionistic twist. For the experimental retail space, he created new works crafted using acrylic goatee on plywood and paper over publicity photos — signaling a new body of work by the artist. Accompanying these pieces are readily available consumables such as jackets designed by the artist alongside CD’s and LP’s.
