This Season's Most Popular Sneakers Get X-Rayed in New Art Series

Featuring the Balenciaga Triple-S, Louis Vuitton Archlight and YEEZY Desert Rat.

British artist and photographer Hugh Turvey has x-rayed some of this season’s most popular sneakers for his new “Xograms” photography series. The images expose the construction of sought-after models celebrated for their distinctive silhouettes, such as the Balenciaga Triple-S, Louis Vuitton Archlight and Yeezy Desert Rat. Other popular models such as the Nike Air VaporMax Flyknit, Gucci SEGA and FILA Disruptor II are exposed to reveal their unique fabrication and sole units.

Turvey revealed that the Gucci SEGA sneaker was one of the most challenging models to shoot due to its complex construction and gem accents. “I wasn’t expecting to see the level of detail as seen in the Gucci sneakers,” said Turvey to designboom. “Aside from the gems, you can see in the heel of the shoe small pins and a metal shank which are characteristic of traditional shoe construction and demonstrate another level of quality build that I just didn’t expect in a sneaker.”
