Treason Gallery

Seattle-based artist Mary Iverson is known for her intricate oil paintings, mixed-media collage, and murals that harness the beauty of nature. She puts her own spin to these natural scenes using an X-Acto knife, slashing through her initial paintings to create geometric shapes atop the serene backdrops. With this cutting method, the artist wants to raise awareness for the “unseen undercurrents of the negative effects of climate change,” as per Juxtapoz.

Iverson is currently the subject of a new show at Seattle’s Treason Gallery entitled “CONFLUENCE.” The new body of work portrays a diverse range of terrain found in North America.
