Takashi Murakami Self-Portrait Sculpture Tetsuya Tomonai Flayed Vinyl Toy Collectible Figure

Takashi Murakami has recently taken to Instagram to post photos of a brand new sculpture. It took Japanese artist Tetsuya Tamanoi over a year to complete the dissected piece which centers upon Murakami’s iconic Superflat self-portrait. The unpainted sculpture has striking similarities to KAWS’ flayed iterations of his beloved Companion vinyl toys. There is no word yet on whether or not the figure will hit store shelves, but stay tuned for more details as they crawl. Get a closer look at the sculpture at the slideshow below.
