Acclaimed post-war Japanese painter Keiichi Tanaami has recently launched a new solo exhibit at NANZUKA gallery in Tokyo, Japan. It’s been three years since Tanaami showcased his signature, psychedelic artwork. Titled “Amulet of the Tapir,” the vibrant presentation features over ten acid-induced paintings that cull galactic, medieval as well as traditional folklore references. Eye-catching details include cryptic monsters traversing modern landscapes, colorful spiders with human-like faces crawling their way through various buildings, and American fighter planes soaring through midnight skies.

Take a look at select paintings above and head over to NANZUKA’s official website to learn more. The exhibition is currently open to the public until August.
