Gucci To Launch New Book "Hortus Sanitatis"

Guccify your library.

Gucci‘s new limited edition book titled Hortus Sanitatis — meaning “The Garden of Health” in Latin — takes its name from the first natural history encyclopedia published in 1485 in Germany. Encased in a pale-blue cover with gold foil detailing, the pages showcase a series of black-and-white photos along with color images showcasing the label’s pre-fall collection all shot in historical locations around Rome by Derek Ridgers.

Known for his documentation of capturing subcultures like the punk scene and bands such as Siouxie and The Ramones, Derek Ridgers shoots all of the best bits of Gucci creative director Alessandro Michele‘s moments that the brand’s followers have come to know and love. Aside from clothes and accessories that are vividly printed, they are also accompanied by animals like cats and snakes.

The book, limited to a print-run of 1,000 copies, will come in a red cotton pouch emblazoned with a skull and crossbones. The official launch will take place on July 5 over at Dover Street Market London. Paris-based Gucci fans will also find the book at colette or the COMME des GARÇONS Trading Museum. Don’t miss out on securing a copy of this book which runs at a price of £75 GBP (approximately $95 USD).
