UPDATE: Banksy Recalls Limited Print to UK Voters Against Conservative Party

Claiming that “the free print offer will invalidate the election result.”

UPDATE:
Banksy recently took to Instagram to officially announce a recall of his “UK Election Souvenir Special” offer. “I have been warned by the Electoral Commission that the free print offer will invalidate the election result,” the elusive artist said. “So I regret to announce this ill-conceived and legally dubious promotion has now been canceled.” Take a look at the Instagram post below.

Banksy has unveiled a reworked version of the iconic girl with a red balloon artwork titled the “UK Election Souvenir Special,” with the Union Flag replacing the heart visual. According to the artist’s website, on June 9th, the exclusive new print will be available to voters in the Bristol North West, Bristol West, North Somerset, Thornbury, Kingswood and Filton constituencies. The catch is that voters must send a photo of their ballot showing that they voted against the incumbent Conservative candidate. Given that capturing photographic evidence of a vote is considered to be illegal, it’s difficult to know how this exchange will be executed when the General Election occurs on June 8th. The website doesn’t actually list where to send the photo, but a disclaimer states the following:

“Lawyer’s note: this print is a souvenir piece of campaign material, it is in no way meant to influence the choices of the electorate, has no monetary value, is for amusement purposes only and is strictly not for re-sale. Terms and conditions to follow, postage not included.”
