Zaha Hadid Architects Unveils a Striking 3D Printed Sculpture for Milan Design Week 2017
The “Thallus” was created using a six-axis robotic 3D printing system.

Trailing behind its digital art installation with Universal Everything is Zaha Hadid Architects’s new 3D-printed sculpture for Milan Design Week 2017. The striking installation called “Thallus” was created using a six-axis robotic 3D printing system that churned out a continuously looping 7 km strip of plastic. According to ZHA via designboom, “the design explores differential growth methods through expansion and diffusion arising from a single continuous seed curve.” The installation is currently on display at Accademia di Belle Arti di Brera in Milan, Italy.
