Kanye Collaborator Cali Thornhill-DeWitt Opens First Solo Exhibition

“SAFE WORDS.”

With his Life of Pablo merch line for Kanye West nominated for a “World’s Best Design” award earlier this year and a freshly dropped collaboration with Slam Jam and Converse, it’s fair to say that this has been a big year for Cali Thornhill-Dewitt. Never one to sit back and relax, however, the designer is topping off a bumper 2017 with a new venture — his first solo exhibition.

Taking place at Los Angeles’ Karma International gallery, the exhibition — titled “SAFE WORDS” — represents a departure for Thornhill-DeWitt, having previously been happiest out of the spotlight. Described as an “ode to our inhumanity,” the show hangs on the artist’s stance as “anti-human,” and the pervading idea that “beauty is tragedy,” using Thornhill-DeWitt’s trademark juxtaposition of image and text.

“SAFE WORDS” runs from December 3, 2017 to January 20, 2018 at Karma International Los Angeles. In other art news, Saint Laurent is marking the final days of colette with a Nobuyoshi Araki exhibition at its in-store pop-up.
