Dover Street Market to Open Pop-Up Bookstore

A limited-edition wallet will be available.

Dover Street Market is opening a pop-up bookstore courtesy of the Dia Art Foundation. Hosted at the retailer’s New York location, the space will be erected to promote two books commemorating Walter De Maria’s artwork.

The bookstore will offer two De Maria-focused books — Artists on Walter De Maria and Walter De Maria: The Lightning Field. This year marks the 40th anniversary of the latter, New Mexico-based De Maria piece and two other Dia Art Foundation-sponsored artworks — ‘The New York Earth Room’ and ‘The Vertical Earth Kilometer.’ In the spirit of celebration COMME des GARÇONS is offering a limited-edition wallet that will be for sale during the pop-up. Visitors to the bookstore will be invited to sit in the reading room and peruse the De Maria books, as well as other titles published by the Dia Art Foundation.

The pop-up bookstore will be open from November 16 – 27. In other art book news, TASCHEN is reissuing Salvador Dali’s wine-focused The Wines of Gala.
