Carhartt WIP and Slam Jam Team up to Launch New Art Space in Milan
Opening on October 11.
After Carhartt WIP and Slam Jam teamed up to release the “Minute Man Service” capsule, founders of the two labels have joined together once again to open a new space for art, design and fashion in Milan. Named Spazio Maiocchi, the space is in a 1000 square meter space that has been renovated and designed by Milan- and Shanghai-based firm Andrea Caputo and is intended to “shape new cultural experiences.” Spazio Maiocchi will host the exhibition space and studio for KALEIDOSCOPE — a Milan-based contemporary art magazine and studio — and Plusdesign, a design gallery and furniture brand.
To launch the space, each of the studios will host an exhibition. KALEIDOSCOPE will exhibit works by Darja Bajagić, a New York-based artist who has created new series of paintings and collages, and Japanese airbrush painter Harumi Yamaguchi, who will be the first person to take over a new billboard in the space’s courtyard. Plusdesign, on the other hand, will launch the first instalment of a new travel series titled Rug Trip I that has been curated with P.A.M.‘s Misha Hollenbach. The exhibition space opens at 6PM on October 11 and the first exhibitions will run until November 25.
